There has been another disappearance in the Black Hill Forest yesterday. An as yet to be identified nineteen year old boy disappeared after a dare from his friends to enter the dangerous woods. His friends, who prefer to remain anonymous, claim to have heard his screams of terror not long after he entered. It was then the group ran from the area and contacted 911 for assistance. The police arrived shortly after, two groups of 10 officers entered the forest but could only find traces of blood and signs someone was dragged away before the trail went cold.
This marks the second disappearance with a similar story this year, three the previous year. For as long as our records go back for New Helena there have been disappearances in the Black Hills Forest every year, most of them young teenagers with friends who dared them to enter. Five years ago a young couple vanished into seemingly thin air after mentioning to friends they were going hiking in the area.
With a large wolf population whose howls can be heard every night from the forest, it has long been suggested, and begged, that our youth refrain from entering the woods for any reason. May this newest tragedy make that request very clear. Our calls to Animal Control have gone unanswered on this matter and we at News Helena wish to ask them why. How many must die before something is done about the wolf population which seems to grow each year?

As a longtime resident of New Helena I am appalled by the writers suggestion the city ‘do something’ about the wolf population who live in the Black Hills Forest. Is that not their home? Have they no right to defend what is theirs? How would you feel if someone came into your home in the middle of the night? Would you first stop to ask them politely what they were doing there, maybe offer to share a beer? No, you would pull out whatever weapons you have and beat the bastard who dared step into your home.
Can the arrogant people who believe they own this earth stop for a moment and think of this as an animal would? These teenagers who foolishly enter the woods at night should learn to respect nature and the author of that article needs to realize he/she is not the only creature who lives in these lands. Stop trying to push out everything and everyone who does not fit into your neat little world.

Alright well first of all. I don’t believe it would be the wolves doing all this, because I was reading an article about wolves, and it said they like to keep thier distance away from humans. Now common sense…you don’t go into a forest late at night. Who knows what else is out there. Lately I have been reading about these disappearances happening. Wolves would usually leave a trace of some sort or tracks that would lead up to thier feeding ground where they bring thier pray. Police haven’t been able to find any trace what so ever. I believe that there is actually somebody out there who is doing this. And it makes perfect sense. It’s a large forest, I’m sure there is a lot of areas a person could hide. I even seen the movie the Blair Witch Project. I think somebody is just keeping the story alive, to make people curious, then come into the forest. Kind of using the story as bate. Like they say curiousity kills the cat.
